Cruise Sydney Harbour like a local – in luxury

What could be more “Sydney” than cruising Sydney Harbour on a sunny Sunday afternoon? That’s what the people at Sea Sydney Cruises think when they say they “cruise like a local”. But mixing in the circles I do (not the rich people), cruising Sydney Harbour can mean a ferry ride to Manly. If you read …

Sunrise over Sydney Airport

I used to love flying. It meant that I was going away somewhere and I love to travel. I also love that feeling of being up above the earth, above the clouds, just …. well, flying. But I hate the reality of sitting in a small, enclosed space, barely able to move for hours on …

A very Sydney blog

Warning! Eastern Sydney wanker blog follows. I’m packing to go away again. Yay!!! I’m doing some preliminary work for a shoot coming up on the south coast of NSW, so I’ll be staying in cabins rather than camping. That means I don’t have to take my bed or kitchen, so you’d think packing would be …

The Southern Highlands, and hedges

The Southern Highlands – Bowral, Mittagong, Berrima, Moss Vale. Antiques, pubs, markets. Frost, fires, country walks. As if that’s not enough, there’s more. I was working in the Southern Highlands in December, so I got a chance to do quite a bit of exploring. Driving along the back roads I discovered that the defining feature …

My night at Cremorne Point Manor

With the Outdoorsy One at Cremorne Point Manor

Once again I find myself on the wrong side of the Bridge. The lovely Jean-Claude has been inviting me to come and stay at Cremorne Point Manor, so finally we decided on a day. The day before we were going it was gorgeous weather, and I was getting excited about my trip on the Harbour. …

It’s festival time in Sydney – but don’t ask for a glass of wine

Sydney’s gearing up for summer, and festival season. I love Sydney in summer. I love the heat, the beach lifestyle, drinks in the beer garden,  barbecues, the Sydney Festival and, of course, the New Years’ Eve fireworks. The only thing I don’t like is the choice of wine at festivals.

Top things to do in Sydney

OK, you’ve done the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, what else is there to see in Sydney. For my money, while Sydney is very beautiful, its scenery is just the backdrop to life in the city – a lifestyle that’s the envy of the world. I know “best of” lists are always contentious, but …

Spring fountains

It’s definitely getting closer to summer, and you know what that means – finding water. It’s not always necessary to go for a swim, just the sight and sound of water has a cooling and calming effect. So here are some water features in Sydney city that help give it that ‘coolness’ factor.

Gardens in Spring

Spring has definitely arrived and it’s time to get outdoors. What better place than the Botanic Gardens, right on beautiful Sydney Harbour. Here are some of the spring blooms you’ll see, but you’d better be quick before they fade.

The Botanic Gardens – an oasis in the heart of Sydney

Is there a better place in spring than a garden? All the better when it has a team of professional horticulturalists and gardeners to keep it looking beautiful. And as an added bonus, during my walk around the Botanic Gardens in Sydney I came across the “Contact Garden”.
