Gum trees, wallaroos, fence posts and sunsets. My favourite photos of the farm

Afternoon sunlight through the gum-treesWhile at the farm last time, on my own, I did lots of exploring, and went to areas I usually don’t.

Normally if I want to go out on my own I have to walk, so don’t tend to venture far, but the recent addition of a quad bike meant I could venture far and wide. And I did.

It’s a large farm, so there are plenty of places I can go without interrupting the work of the farm or disturbing the livestock. Though the cows are more likely to disturb me!

Wallaroo?A lot of the farm is natural area, full of gum trees. Old fence posts show places where it was probably cleared previously, but with no recent use nature has once again reasserted herself.

There are lots of creeks through the farm, but with the drought these have dried out.

One of the things that I love most about the place is the amount of wildlife. We’ve seen kangaroos, wallabies, wallaroos, wombats, even an echidna. And being on my own I could sit and watch them quietly without anybody wanting to point a rifle at anything!

Maybe somebody could tell me if the photo on the right is a wallaroo. We see quite a few of these around the place, and they are usually on their own, though occasionally we see them in pairs.

Here are some of my favourite photos from my time alone out there.
