The world’s trash ends up on Cape York beaches

The eastern side of the Cape York Peninsular has some of the world’s most beautiful, remote, wild, almost untouched (I’d say pristine, but they’re not and I hate that that word is used wrongly so often) beaches.

Except they’re filthy.

The world's trash ends up on Cape York beaches

Ocean currents carry rubbish dumped at sea or in other countries and dump that rubbish on these beaches. I can’t express how it feels to come across beaches that you know very few people have even seen, let alone walked on, and then find them strewn with the world’s rubbish.

It makes me want to cry.
