Simpson Desert

The Simpson Desert is surprising. Yes, there are a lot of sand dunes. A lot. Lots and lots. You get the idea

But there are also birds, trees, shrubs, grasses and wildflowers. Far more than I expected. When you stop and just soak it in it is stunningly beautiful.

These photos are from my first trip through the Simpson, along the WAA line, Knolls Track, French, and QAA. The second trip was along the Rig Road which skirts around some amazing salt lakes. I’ll add some of those later – particularly the shells!
