Stop being so annoying!

Stop being so annoying!

I don’t know if it’s an end of the year thing or what, but some things have been annoying me lately. [Shut up Doc, not everything annoys me].

This isn’t my definitive list of the most annoying things of 2012. I haven’t done the list yet but you can be sure that Quade Cooper won’t be on it this year. Not because he’s not annoying, but because he’s obviously been trying too hard so has disqualified himself.

Maybe I’m just getting grumpy, but here’s some things that have annoyed me lately:

People who think they can speak for their whole generation/sex/population

I read an article recently about “what women want from their beauty therapist”. As somebody who visits beauticians regularly I thought it would be interesting.

And it was – but not as the author intended.

I began muttering to myself as I read “Oh no, that would be awful. That’s exactly the type of beautician I DON’T want go to”.

And the other week I read one about “what men really want women to wear”. Immediately I finished it I went to Doc and asked him what he really likes women to wear. Not me in particular, just women generally.

You guessed it – exactly the opposite of the person purporting to speak for the entire male sex.

And a quick vox pop found that almost everybody liked something different to everybody else.

Isn’t that what makes the world go around – that we’re all different? It really would be pretty boring otherwise. And maybe really daggy.

Can you imagine if we all liked 80s pop and Duran Duran?????

Or, god forbid, high waisted shorts or playsuits!

Sheer lunacy that just doesn’t make sense

I had a job interview recently. They said it was just an “informal chat” to “explore more why I applied for the job”, but it certainly felt like an interview. There were a lot of questions, which I answered, but not much chat or exploring issues.

Anyway, after the interview … sorry, chat … they decided not to proceed with my application. When I asked for feedback I was told “well, you were very honest.” WtF???? I would have thought that was a good thing, especially for an organisation trying to get over the taint of corruption. But I guess not. Next time I’ll lie through my teeth and tell you exactly what you want to hear.

decorated fresh christmas treePeople who hate Christmas

I love Christmas and look forward to it every year. I get more excited than a small child and count the days until 1 December when I can put up my decorations. Then there’s mid December when we get our real Christmas tree. It makes me happy just to look around at the house when it’s decorated for Christmas.

And I love shopping for presents for people, and cooking for them. I spend too much money, eat and drink too much and generally have a wonderful time. And if you give me a present I will be very grateful, no matter what it is. I really do believe it’s the thought that counts.

If you don’t like Christmas then don’t join in. But just shut up and let me enjoy it.

Now that’s off my chest I can think about just what was most annoying – and most inspiring – in 2012. My list coming soon. If you have any suggestions please let me know. All annoying or inspiring things/people will be considered.
